How to create a Windows 11 Microsoft account user

How to create a Microsoft account user in Windows 11 is created by adding an account that is in family and other users in the setting account. When creating a Microsoft user, you can use an existing Microsoft email address, or if you don’t have one, you can get one and create one when you create the user. This page shows how to create a Microsoft account user.

Add a Microsoft account user

Create a Microsoft user, change permissions if necessary, sign in with the created user, and complete the basic settings to complete the addition of the Microsoft user.

Create a Microsoft account user

1. Open your account settings

Click the Start button, then click Settings in Start.
 Click “Account” to display the account settings screen.

Click “Family and other users” in the account settings.
 Click the Add Account button under Add Other Users.

3. Create a Microsoft account user

There are two patterns for creating a Microsoft user, as follows.

  • Get a new Microsoft service email address when creating a Microsoft user.
  • If you already use Windows, Skype, or Outlook email, and have a Microsoft account, use your existing account.

Here, the explanation is divided into the following two parts.

  • Create a new Microsoft account
  • Created with an existing Microsoft account

 

Create a new Microsoft account

1. When the Microsoft account screen appears, click “I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.”
 2. When “Create an account” is displayed, click “Get a new email address”.
 3. The screen for setting the e-mail address will be displayed. Enter the name of the address and click “Next”.

  • You can choose from three types of “domains” for email addresses.
  • Characters that can be entered are single-byte alphanumeric characters and (-), and short names and common words cannot be registered.
  • If there is a problem with the entered name, a message will be displayed explaining the content of the error. Enter different characters and click “Next”.

The figure below is an example of when the entered name cannot be used.
 4. If there is no problem with the name of the e-mail address, the screen for setting a password will be displayed. Enter the password and click “Next”.
5. When “Name input” is displayed, enter “Last name | First name” and click “Next”. Kanji Hiragana Romaji can also be set.
 6. When “Specify date of birth” is displayed, set the country and date of birth and click “Next”.
 7. If the “Family and other users” setting screen is displayed and the email address of the created Microsoft user is added to “Other users”, the creation of the Microsoft user is complete.

Created with an existing Microsoft account
1. Enter the email address or phone number you use for Microsoft services and click Next.
 2. When “You are ready.” is displayed, click “Finish” to complete the creation of the Microsoft user.
 3. If the setting screen of “Family and other users” is displayed and the email address of the created Microsoft user is added to “Other users”, the creation of the Microsoft user is completed.
Setting permissions for the created Microsoft account user
The privileges of the created Microsoft user are set to “Standard User” by default. If you want to change to “Administrator”, you can operate from “Change account type”. 1. Click the box with the name of the added Microsoft user, and the setting items will be displayed. Click “Change account type”.
 2. When “Change Account Type” appears, click the “Account Type” selection box, select the permission type , and click “OK”.
 3. The current “authority” is displayed in the box of the user name whose authority was changed, so check it and you are done.
・Nothing is displayed when “Standard User” is set.

Finish adding the created Microsoft account user

Just because you’ve created a Microsoft user account doesn’t mean you’re a full user yet. Sign in to Windows 11 with his Microsoft and his user you added, and complete the user addition by making basic settings such as user-specific privacy and his PIN. 1. Click Accounts in the Start menu and click the name of the Microsoft user you added.
 2. Click “Sign in” when prompted.
 3. The password entry screen will be displayed. Enter the password and click “Sign in”.
 4. “Create PIN” is displayed.

  • Click the Close button if you do not want to create a PIN.
  • Click Next to create a PIN.

If you want to create a PIN, also enter the PIN for confirmation and click OK.

What is PIN?
Set a PIN (personal identification number) instead of a password. The PIN will be saved on the computer you created and will be associated with your Microsoft user’s password and his PIN. Since the PIN is set and saved on the PC, it can only be used on the PC (terminal) that has been set, improving security.

5. “Back up files using OneDrive” will appear.

  • If you are not sure about OneDrive, click “Save files only on this PC”.
    You can change OneDrive settings later.
  • Click Next if you are familiar with OneDrive and want to use it.

 6. Privacy settings

  • You can make settings such as sending location information and Windows 11 usage status to Microsoft. Click the switch button to disable (No) or enable (Yes).
  • Click ” Agree ” when the settings are complete .
  • Click the button when it appears. Click to reboot and start the final configuration.

 7. Final settings for adding Microsoft users

  • “This may take a few minutes.” is displayed, and after another message is displayed, “It is almost completed” is displayed, so please wait for a while.
  • It may restart automatically depending on the environment. Also, please do not force quit just because you are not progressing.
  • If you can see the home screen, you have successfully added a Microsoft user.
