How to disable and hide the Windows 11 lock screen

Hiding the Windows 11 lock screen can be disabled with the Home Pro version by editing the registry. Pro version can be hidden by group policy setting. If you disable and hide the lock screen, you can skip operations on the lock screen because the sign-in screen will be displayed directly after starting up, waking from sleep, unlocking, etc. This page introduces how to hide the lock screen in Windows 11.

How to hide Windows 11 lock screen

1. Open Registry Editor and go to Policies

  • Press “Windows” and “R” on your keyboard.
  • When Run opens, type regedit in the text box and click OK.
  • Click Yes when the User Account Control warning appears.

“Run” can also be opened from Start.

 When Registry Editor opens, click > to expand, navigate to Policies, and click the Microsoft key Click the “>” icon of the key name to expand it.

2. Create a registry key (Personalization)

Right-click the ” Windows ” key in “Microsoft” , move the mouse pointer to ” New ” in the menu, and click ” Key (K) ” in the submenu .
 A ” New Key #1 ” will be created, rename it to ” Personalization “.Even if the key name change state is canceled, you can change the name by clicking the key name to select it and pressing “F2” on the keyboard.

 

3. Create a value (NoLockScreen) and change the data

Right-click the ” Personalization ” key, move the mouse pointer to ” New “, and click ” DWORD (32-bit) Value (D) ” in the submenu.
 A ” New Value #1 ” will be created, rename it to ” NoLockScreen “.
Even if the renaming state is canceled, you can change the name by clicking the value name to select it and pressing “F2” on the keyboard.

  • Double-click the renamed ” NoLockScreen ” to open “Edit Value”
  • Change Value data from 0 to 1 and click OK .

 Confirm that the data display is ” 0x0000000 1 (1) ” and close the Registry Editor.

3. Finish hiding the lock screen
  • Restart your computer for the hidden lock screen to take effect.
  • If the sign-in screen is displayed instead of the lock screen after restarting , hiding the lock screen is complete.

Settings to hide in Pro version group policy

1. Only the Pro version can hide the lock screen with Group Policy . 1. Open Group Policy

  • Press “Windows” and “R” on your keyboard.
  • When Run opens, enter gpedit.msc in the text box and click OK.
  • Click Yes when the User Account Control warning appears.

 2. When Group Policy opens, click the “>” button next to the folder icon to expand it and click ” Personalization “.

  • 〉Computer configuration
  • 〉Management Templates
  • >Control panel
  • 〉Personal Settings

 3. Double-click ” Hide lock screen ” under “Personalization” in Group Policy .
 4. When the “Do not show lock screen” setting screen appears, click ” Enable ” to select it and click “OK”.
 5. Restart your computer for the hidden lock screen to take effect
If the sign-in screen is displayed instead of the lock screen after restarting, hiding the lock screen is complete. If the lock screen is displayed, edit the registry to hide the lock screen.

Hide sign-in screen background lock screen

You can also hide the lock screen in the background of the sign-in screen.
 1. On the desktop (home) screen where there is nothing such as an icon, right-click and click “Personalize” in the menu.
 2. When Personalization appears, click Lock screen to open lock screen settings.
 3. Click the switch button for “Show lock screen background image on sign-in screen” to turn it off.  This completes hiding the lock screen in the background of the sign-in screen.
