How to Repair a Toshiba 8GB Flashdrive

Flash drives are available from many manufacturers with varying amounts of storage. When an error occurs with a device such as the Toshiba 8 gigabyte drive, there are a few things you can try to resolve the issue.
Safely Remove Hardware Instructions
Insert the flash drive into a USB port on your computer. Wait for the operating system to recognize the drive. You will see a “Safely Remove Hardware” icon appear in your system tray.

Double-click the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon to open the “Stop a device” window.


Highlight your Toshiba drive and click the “OK” button.

Remove the flash drive from the computer when you see a safe remove screen message.
Error Check flash Drive

Click on the “Start” menu and select the “Computer” option.

Right-click on your Toshiba flash drive’s icon and select “Properties” from the context menu.

Go to the “Tools” tab and click on the “Check Now” button which is under “Error checking.” Put a check in the box to “Automatically fix system errors” and click on the “Start” button.
Format Flash Drive

Click on the “Start” menu and select the “Computer” option.

Right-click on your flash drive’s icon and select “Format” from the context menu.

Type a name in the “Volume Label” text box and place a checkmark in the “Quick Format” box. Click on the “Start” button. Wait while the drive is being formatted.
