What is an XD Type M memory card

The Olympus xD Picture Card M type is a flash memory card designed for use in digital cameras. The xD type M and M + are the only xD cards that support the Panorama function in Olympus digital cameras. Capacity
The xD M type memory card comes in four sizes: 256MB, 512MB, 1GB and 2GB. According to CNET, when used in an 8-megapixel camera in HQ mode, a 2GB xD-type M card can store up to 1,000 pictures.

XD cards are compatible with Olympus and Fuji cameras. This is partly due to the dimensions of xD cards: 20 x 25 x 1.7mm when compared to typical memory card dimensions: 24 x 32 x 2.1mm. Type M memory card is intended for exclusive use in Olympus cameras.
